| US equities maintained their upward trajectory on Wednesday following the Federal Reserve’s decision to hold interest rates constant and amid sustained global risk appetite. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 126.21 points, a 0.24% gain, to reach 52,503.78. The S&P 500 advanced 0.33% to 7,748.03, while the Nasdaq Composite registered a 0.32% increase to 26,561.24. In a significant development, the US Federal Reserve opted to keep its benchmark policy rate unchanged and revised its economic assessment upward. Nevertheless, the central bank acknowledged that inflation "remains elevated." During the post-meeting press conference, Fed Chair Kevin Warsh indicated the central bank’s commitment and preparedness to take action. This resulted in a stable performance for equities, as the Dow Jones climbed for a third consecutive session and remained proximate to a seven-week peak. |
