| US equities advanced Thursday, underpinned by a notable decline in long-term Treasury yields and a recovery in technology shares. Market sentiment remained erratic amid persistent inflationary concerns. Recent figures indicated that US producer prices increased 6.3% year-over-year in September – the most substantial gain since December 2022. Nevertheless, reassuring commentary from Federal Reserve officials facilitated a retreat from the longest tenors of Treasury yields, which had reached their highest levels in two decades. This development bolstered equities following Wednesday's downturn. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 556 points, equating to a 1.08% gain, to conclude at 52,177.69, whereas the S&P 500 increased 0.33% to 7,744.06. The technology-centric NASDAQ Composite registered a closing value of 26,713.03, reflecting a 0.08% advance. |
