| US equities declined on Wednesday amid persistent pressure in the bond market, propelling Treasury yields to levels unseen in over two decades. Key indices experienced selling pressure following record highs achieved in the prior session.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 341.41 points, a 0.66% decrease, to conclude trading at 51,179.87, as the S&P 500 retreated 0.22% to finish at 7,801.77. The Nasdaq Composite edged lower by 0.22% to reach 27,538.69 at the close.
Concerns arose among investors as the yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note ascended to its peak since April 2002, registering at 5.365% on Wednesday. The 30-year bond yield similarly attained its highest level since May 2002, reaching 5.73%. |
