| COMEX Gold futures declined for a third consecutive session as prices breached $4400 per ounce, pressured by a robust US dollar and commentary from US Federal Reserve officials indicating a persistently restrictive monetary policy stance. Tom Barkin, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, noted that US inflation remains above the Federal Reserve’s 2 percent objective for a period exceeding five years, alongside indications of resilience in the labor market, potentially signaling further increases in US interest rates. New York Federal Reserve President John Williams yesterday affirmed the efficacy of the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy management system, while acknowledging the potential for adjustments to the framework in response to evolving financial market dynamics. The US dollar index advanced beyond the 100 level, reaching a seven-week peak. COMEX Gold futures are presently valued at $4365 per ounce, reflecting a 0.27% decline on the day. |
