| Local stocks see marginal gains |

| The key equity barometers traded with limited gains in early trade. Nifty opened at 24361 and hit a high of 24381 in first half hour of trade. Nifty Financial Services, Nifty Chemicals and Nifty Auto shares advanced, while Nifty IT and Nifty FMCG shares declined.
At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, moved lower by 103.50 points or 0.13% to 77,824.65. The Nifty 50 index edged higher by 36 points or 0.15% to 24,353.15.
The broader market performed better than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index inched up 0.22% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.45%.
The market breadth was healthy. On the BSE, 2424 shares rose and 1162 shares fell. A total of 202 shares were unchanged.
Nifty Financial Services index inched up 0.86% to 26477. The index has posted modest losses of 1.14% in last one month and inched down 1.69% over last one year. Bajaj Finance, strengthening 5.47%, led the gainers followed by Bajaj Finserv, up 2.98% and Cholaman.Inv.&Fn, edging up 2.68%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 15 are reporting gains today.
Nifty Chemicals index moved higher by 0.85% to 30243. The index has risen slightly by 1.26% in last one month and posted modest gains of 2.76% over last one year. Aarti Industries, gaining 3.74%, led the gainers followed by Navin Fluo.Intl., adding 2.34% and Himadri Special, inching higher 2.05%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 15 are reporting gains today.
Nifty IT index tumbled 3.04%. The index has jumped 18.61% in last one month and fell 12.08% over last one year. Infosys, losing 3.58%, led the loosers followed by Persistent Systems, down 3.40% and TCS, edging lower 3.37%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.
In NIFTY500, Hyundai Motor I is the top gainer today, surging 7.20% to Rs 2170.25. The counter is modestly lower by 3.28% in last one year. It recorded an average volume quantity of 22614.17 in last five sessions compared to 40984.91 over last one month.
Asian markets jumped on Friday. China’s Shanghai composite is trading higher by 0.76%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is slightly lower by 0.17%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is significantly higher by 3.85%. |
